Nowadays Jungle Brothers’ 1988 debut LP Straight Out The Jungle is largely remembered for two reasons. The first is that the Todd Terry-produced single ‘I’ll House You’ was a seminal moment in the history of (hip-)house; the second being that album’s success led to Jungle Brothers forming the Native Tongues movement, a crew which would soon count the likes of De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest among its number. However, this record also deserves to be lauded as a whole, its lo-fi beats and lackadaisical rhymes one of the finest tomes to emerge from late-80s New York City. 180g black vinyl.
